How One Sponsor Gift Positively Affected Area Students

Last year the Lucy P. Sale Foundation provided a generous grant to TheatreWorks Community Players.  The Foundation's $3,500 grant last season was extremely meaningful to our organization and aided the entire TWCP family in their efforts to continue bringing high quality, entertaining community theater to MHC. In the absence of any funding from outside sources, we rely heavily on our sponsors, individual donors and, of course, ticket sales to operate.

The Foundation's grant was used to underwrite the one night of "Moon Over Buffalo" and invited performing arts students and teachers from our four area high schools -- Martinsville, Bassett, Magna Vista and Carlisle -- to attend. The objective was to provide these students with an opportunity to see a live theatrical production, many for the first time, hopefully nourishing their interest in the arts. We had good participation and excellent feedback.
